How To Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 GM on iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G and iPod touch 4G, 3G with Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 [Guide]

Today we broke the news about the release of iOS 4.2.1 GM for iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod touch 4G, 3G and iPad. Now you can use Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 to jailbreak all these iOS devices. Moreover I have collected the direct download links for iOS 4.2.1 GM to all above mentioned devices.


You have to note that Cydia doesn't work till now due to some issues on the private APIs used by Cyida which has been changed by Apple. Bud don't worry the developers has fixed these issues and it is only a matter of time as they are waiting for the iOS 4.2.1 public release. For now you can install jailbroken-apps via SSH - until we got the new Cydia version - as you have full root access on your iOS device.

STEP 1: Download redsn0w 0.9.6b2,  iOS 4.2.1 GM and iOS 4.1 final version for iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod touch 4G, 3G (download links at the end).

STEP 2: Update to 4.2.1 GM firmware using the IPSW file you just downloaded via iTunes.

STEP 3: Launch Redsn0w 0.9.6b2,  and Browse for iOS 4.1 firmware final version (NOT iOS 4.2.1 GM). 

STEP 4: Select "Install Cydia" and click on Next

STEP 5: Now make sure your device is both OFF and PLUGGED IN to the computer before you click “Next”.

STEP 6: At this stage you will need to put your iPhone in DFU mode by holding “Power” button and then while holding the “Power” button, you will now have to hold “Home” button too. Now after few seconds release “Power” button but keep holding “Home” button until installation begins.

STEP 7: You will Get a Jailbroken Device on the latest iOS 4.2.1 GM as soon as the process ends.

NOTE: If you have an unlocked iDevice with ultrasn0w, you have to stay away from Redsn0w, as it updates your baseband to latest version, which is still unlockable till now.

Apple Bumper May Damage Your iPhone 4

Since iPhone 4 released, we heard about the Apple's reception issue, which Apple tried to solve it with a free Bumper, today Razorianfly reported the damage occurred to his iPhone 4 device after using the Bumper. He removed the bumper after some days of usage, and he got surprised!

After he removed the bumper from his iPhone 4 device he spotted some pretty insane scuffs and marks on the iPhone 4's aluminum band. He connected with the customer service to handle this bad issue. Apple rep. replied :

How To: Enable 720p Video Recording on iPhone 3GS [Guide]

Yeah, you can now enable HD video recording on your iPhone 3GS running iOS 4 or newer. iPhone developerMike has successfully managed to bypass the limitation in the software of the ARM Cortex processor on iPhone 3GS to handle 720p video encoding. Simply follow the full step by step guide posted below to get it working on iPhone 3GS.


STEP 1: Jailbreak your iPhone 3GS (if you haven't yet) using the instructions posted here to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.1 using Limera1n or GreenPois0n.

STEP 2: Install OpenSSH by opening Cydia, tap on the Search button and write down OpenSSH then install this app and reboot your device.

STEP 3: Connect your iPhone 3GS into your computer via USB and make sure that iTunes is not running.

STEP 5: Download the pre-edited file HDVideo3GS.zip.

STEP 6: Now copy N88AP.plist file to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/

STEP 7: Now copy the other 3 ,plist files to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Celestial.framework/N88/

STEP 8: Almost finished! Now simply reboot your device and enjoy the trick!
